Eligibility for Chartered Accountancy (CA) at TSA

The current applicable routes to become a chartered accountant are:

General Eligibility for Registration:

  • A-Level Students: Minimum of three passes with a grade above D (students with grades below D and above 50% are required to take the Qualifying Assessment Test, QAT).
  • Intermediate Students (HSSC): Minimum of 60% marks in any stream (students below 60% and above 50% must appear for QAT).
  • Graduates: Minimum of 45% marks.

Entry Route and Program Structure:

  1. PRC Entry (Pre-Requisite Competencies):

    • For Students Meeting General Eligibility: Start at the PRC level after registration.
    • Provisionally Registered Students: Candidates awaiting results may register as full-time PRC students.
  2. CAF Level and Training Requirements:

    • Upon completing PRC, students progress to the Certificate in Accounting and Finance (CAF).
    • After CAF, students must join an authorized training organization for a 3.5-year training period, required to qualify for higher stages.
  3. Direct Trainee Scheme for Graduates:

    • Eligibility: University graduates with a minimum of 60% marks can register as trainees after passing or receiving exemption from PRC.
    • Training During Studies: Trainees can begin training before passing PRC; however, training may be terminated if PRC is not cleared within 1.5 years or available attempts.
    • Training Duration:
      • 3.5 years for standard CA route.
      • 4 years for 2-3 year graduates and equivalent.
      • 3 years for 4-year graduates from SDAIs (Specific Degree Awarding Institutions).

Progression Stages in CA Qualification:

  • CAF: Certificate in Accounting and Finance.
  • CFAP: Certified Finance and Accounting Professional.
  • MSA: Multi Subject Assessments.
  • Professional Competence Levels: Financial Reporting, Audit, and other competencies required for advanced professional roles.
